How Side-Mount Openers Work
Understand the complete system
A wall-mount opener, often called a jackshaft or side-mount opener, attaches beside the door and turns the torsion shaft. It does not use the conventional center-ceiling rail and trolley, which preserves overhead space and reduces rail vibration.
The open ceiling is a benefit, not proof the door qualifies. Shaft size and condition, drums, cables, bearing support, track radius, high lift, side room, headroom, door dimensions, actual weight, balance, power, and model limits must be checked together.
